Magnificent Art Deco period vase in flamed stoneware in blue-grey and ochre from the Denbac factory, model 376.
Denbac is the contraction of Denert and Balichon.
René Denert, a ceramist and industrialist, joined forces in 1910 with René-Louis Balichon, a manager, to produce stoneware at the artisanal workshops he ran on rue Camille Desmoulins in Vierzon. The small business operated from 1909 to 1952 under the name "Manufacture de grès flammés", then the following year under the name "Société Denert et Balichon". Over the years, a skilled workforce joined the workshop, which became semi-industrial. More than 670 models were created and fired at high temperatures, for 24 hours at around 1380°C at the end of firing, in reverse-flame kilns.
