Handling a pocket watch

Setting the time:

To set the time on a pocket watch, pull the winding crown up and turn it clockwise to the desired setting. Then push the crown back into its original position.

Reassemble the mechanism:

There is no battery in an antique pocket watch. To power it, you must wind your watch with a key or, if your watch has a crown, wind it clockwise. This action will wind a spring, re-energizing the movement as it unwinds.
Caution: Do not force the winding process, as this may damage the watch. We therefore recommend that you stop winding before reaching the stop.

We recommend that you wind your watch at the same time every day.

Interview :

Antique mechanical movements require special attention. If the oil that lubricates the various components of the watch movement has dried out, friction from the mechanism can damage the parts.
We advise you to have your antique watch serviced by a watchmaker on a regular basis, especially if the watch starts to run slowly.
