Some old earrings called "brisure" earrings, opening at the front, are put on from the back of the lobe.
Problem: Without patience and delicacy, threading can quickly become chaotic.
Don’t panic! We’ll explain how to do it step by step.
You have bought, or are planning to buy, a beautiful pair of antique earrings, but you discover with surprise that they are placed behind the ear.
Domitille, 37 years old, had the same surprise as you:
"I had literally fallen for this pair of gold and diamonds and my husband gave them to me for the birth of our third child. What I hadn't seen was that they were put in place from the back of the earlobe. I struggled. With three young children, I never have time for myself and this magnificent traditional gift that was so dear to my heart ended up in the closet. I couldn't put them in the first time, it was even painful, and I gave up for fear of damaging them by forcing them."
It was with regret that Domitille pushed open our door to sell her earrings. Such a beautiful birth gift from her husband... it would have been a shame if she had missed out on the very simple technique for putting them on.
Because once we demonstrated them to her and with a little training, she finally managed to wear them and keep them and now wears them regularly:
"After seeing the gesture, I was able to stop being afraid to put them on. In hindsight, I think I should have just tried more calmly!"
I then realized that this gesture, quite harmless, must put off more than one customer. What a shame when you see the little old wonders that can be found but which open in this way!
I therefore offer you this tutorial in the hope that it will help some of our readers.
1) Stand in front of a mirror in a well-lit room.
Because you have to put all the chances on your side.
2) Fold the lobe so that you can see the entrance to the duct:
If you find it impossible to get right on the lobe canal through the back of the ear, fold it back so that you can see it.
3) Present the rod and insert it
Don't force it, it shouldn't hurt.
4) Gently bring the rod forward
You should now detect the tip pointing under the skin. Try to align the tip in the axis of the exit of the canal. Be patient, readjust, take your time, no need to hurt yourself: remember that on both ears, in principle one ALWAYS gives us problems! ;)
5) The tip comes out!
Congratulations, but we won a battle, not the war...
6) And now the trickiest part: managing to clip the tip into the buckle housing:
If you haven't already, you may be starting to get annoyed. The key is to push the hook back to force it into the hole.
To do this, the technique is to wedge your nail into the hook-shaped end, push it back while guiding the hook carefully between your fingers towards the housing.
As I was saying, one side will seem less simple than the other.
Don't panic, you'll get there eventually. Don't force it, you don't want to twist the hinges. Breathe, relax and try again in gentleness and pleasure!
7) Congratulations, you made it!
You have earned the rank of black belt in jewelry. Know that this manipulation will become increasingly simple to use.
You deserve a little glass of champagne to celebrate this first, don't you?
